Volunteers: More than 200 volunteers provide the backbone of the two Ronald McDonald House locations.
In-house volunteers work in three, four-hour shifts daily. These in-house volunteers check families in and out, answer telephones, give tours, perform light housekeeping, assist with clerical work, and provide emotional support for the families. Additionally, other volunteers assist with special events and other fundraising activities.
Families Served: More than 16,000 have stayed at the two Ronald McDonald House locations in Orlando since opening the first phase of the first House in December 1996. Those families have represented 51 countries, 48 states and 62 Florida counties. Many of our Central Florida families reside in: Brevard, Volusia, Lake, and Orange counties.
Additional Services: A house manager is on campus at both Houses 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Meals are provided by individuals and organizations in the community when possible. Families also prepare their own meals. An RMH van, donated by Dr. Phillips Charities and a GEM car donated by ABB, transport the families to and from the hospitals when needed.
