Official Statement by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida is proud to be part of a brand recognized around the world. Though we are part of a globally recognized brand, each Ronald McDonald House chapter is governed by its own local Board of Directors.

Our three Ronald McDonald Houses in Orlando strive to be a respite for families caring for their ill or injured child being treated at a pediatric hospital right here in our community. 

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have worked closely with RMHC Global and our hospital partners to operate each House safely, updating our policies as needed based on the continuously evolving nature of this virus. These policies are crucial to protect the vulnerable population of ill and injured children we serve, their families, staff, and volunteers. At this time, we do not require proof of vaccination for our guest families. All updated policies are communicated with all who inquire about staying, volunteering, or visiting one of our Houses.

We have continued to lean on our hotel partners to ensure we can serve as many families as possible while our Houses remain open to limited occupancy. Our fundamental goal is to provide comfort and care to families who are facing the stress of tending to their child’s medical needs.

Current Modified Operations

Application and Check-In

  • Houses operating at a maximum of 75% occupancy
  • Guest families limited to two primary caregivers, no additional support family—caregivers must be the same two throughout the duration of stay, no switching in and out
  • Siblings are permitted
  • Up to four total guests within each room (including caregivers, patient, and siblings)
  • Daily use of the room required
  • Families are encouraged to refrain unnecessary travel, including to and from home/work
  • If guests feel they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 or have a positive COVID-19 test, they must check-out immediately
  • In continuing efforts to serve the needs of families, we also partner with local hotels to provide additional resources

  • Masks required when not in bedroom
  • Playrooms closed
  • Dining rooms closed
  • Gathering rooms closed
  • Kitchen available by sign-up only; limited to two families at a time
  • Laundry room available by sign-up only; limited to two families at a time
