Owen La Branche was 13 days-old when his family found out he needed open heart surgery at Winnie Palmer Hospital.
With the family living more than an hour and a half away in Ocala, Ronald McDonald House was a huge stress relief while dealing with Owen’s medical needs.
“It was welcoming and comforting…It truly was a home away from home,” said Owen’s mother, Kimberly.
The family stayed five days at our Arnold Palmer House and met other families going through similar situations. “Talking with other families whose child is going through the same type of medical issue helped relieve our stress,” Kimberly said.
The House That Love Built
The family said they are grateful for the kindness and support they received from the staff and volunteers at the House.
Kimberly and her husband Matthew said they will always remember the kindness that was shown to them and how RMH helped keep them close.
“Sometimes you never know who or how your selfless acts will impact others…You all lifted our family while he went through open heart surgery at just 13 days old. Being able to be by his bedside every day not only helped him recover but helped us heal as well.”
